I'm a Big Boy Now!

Well, Kyler has always been a "big boy" but now Kyler is doing all the things big boys can do! Kyler started taking his first steps about two weeks before his first birthday and before we knew it, crawling was a thing of the past! He is walking more and more every day and rarely crawls anymore. He started standing up from the sitting position about a week ago. It is amazing how fast babies can pick up on a new skill, literally over night. The poor guy has four maybe five teeth coming in right now. So, he is a drooling machine and seems to have a hard time getting to sleep and staying asleep at night. Kyler continues to get into everything that he possibly can and has recently figured out how to open the back screen door and turn on the light switch when he is in his crib. Kyler is extremely curious and very hands on...loves to push buttons and see how things work. Kayla absolutely loves that Kyler can walk now and holds his hand and walks with him all over the house, it is too cute!

Kyler's 1st Birthday Party

Kyler had a fun time celebrating his first birthday with his friends and family. We had Kyler's birthday party at our house and the kids had fun playing on the swing set, in the sandbox and with the water table. The weather was nice and the adults had fun visiting, eating and watching the kids play. Kyler was not too sure about his birthday cupcake, he just picked at it and then smeared it around the tray. What a waste of a yummy cupcake!! Thanks to all of Kyler's friends and family for making his first birthday extra special!!

All together now..."What were you thinking?"

Even though the kids both had fun, I had a major, "what in the world was I thinking" moment when I thought it would be fun if I gave Kyler a couple of drops of finger paint to play with while Kayla was painting. Kayla decided that she wanted to paint and I knew I would be occupied with her so I thought, I will just put Kyler in the highchair, squirt of few drops on the tray, easy to wipe off, no problem. HA! Well, Kyler did have a blast and I guess that is what matters but I had to give him a bath and then wash the shower curtain because he of course tried to grab it as I was putting him in the bath and then take the entire highchair outside to hose down. I just have to laugh as I'm typing this now...what we do for our kids!!

Butterfly Exhibit

We enjoyed the perfect weather today and went to the Butterfly Exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden. Kayla had soooo much fun! She happened to be wearing yellow which I did not even think about how yellow would be a color that the butterflies would be attracted to but they were! They were landing on her shirt, her yellow bow and her arms. It was so cool! Kyler wanted to grab all of the flowers, and tried to snatch up a butterfly that Eric was trying to show him. Aaaah, good times! So, Eric had to hold his arms down while he was looking at the butterflies which actually caught his attention, it was very cute! I went a little crazy with posting lots of the pics but they turned out so pretty it was hard to choose. Click on the pictures to see the butterflies a little closer.
