Mother Nature's Pumpkin Patch

I have to say that I absolutely hate the weather in Arizona this time of year. It is Fall, there are pumpkin patches to visit, yummy fall flavored coffee drinks and it is still so stinkin hot outside!! Despite the annoying heat, we still visit the pumpkin patches, and Mother's Nature Farm was our second. It was crowded and hot so I have to say that I was pretty cranky but tried to make the best of it and just watch the kids having fun. Kayla and Kyler did not seem to mind the heat or the crowds and had a blast running around in the pumpkin patch, going for a hayride, decorating their pumpkins and "feeding" the animals. Kyler has this obsession with cows so we were all so excited that there was a cow that Kyler could see up close. As soon as he saw the cow he grabbed some hay that he saw some kids feeding the goats with and ran up to the fence, stuck his hand through the fence and was saying, "moo" over and over trying to feed the cow. It was so cute!!! Kayla was in love with the piglets that were born just a week earlier.

Dinosaur Museum

I was looking forward to fall break so I could take the kids to the park, we could visit the zoo and other outdoor activities. However, since it was still 100 degrees outside we did not do any outdoor activities so we left to find things to do indoors. Blah! I'm ready for the outdoors!! We did have a great time at the "Dinosaur Museum" though. The last time I was there was over spring break when I was pregnant with Kyler and I was trying to get in as many special activities as I could with Kayla before Kyler was born (which ended up being 5 days later).

"Pinkalicious Paci Party"

Well, the dreaded day (for both Kyler and I) finally came. When Kyler went to his 18 month checkup the doctor told me it was time to get rid of the paci. : ( I guess I have been holding onto the paci because it was the only thing that still made Kyler a "baby". I don't want my kids to grow up, I want them to stay little forever. : ( Yet, I knew that we (I) had to bite the bullet and throw away the paci's. So, we gathered up all the paci's and told Kyler that he was a big boy and he did not need them anymore so we were going to throw them away. Since Kayla has her Pinkalicious birthday party on her mind and we were having a "paci party" for Kyler, she decided to rename our party to, "Pinkalicious Paci Party" which meant she "had" to dress in all pink. At first, Kyler grabbed a paci, stuck it in his mouth and then gathered up all the other paci's. I thought we were in for trouble and I was ready to cave in but sure enough after our encouragement, Kyler took the paci's one by one to the garbage and we said good-bye. After he threw all of the paci's away he clapped and ran over to me and gave me a big hug. I melted of course! The first night went okay, he cried out for a paci for a few minutes then he started calling out for me and then Eric, and then grandma, grandpa and Uncle. After realizing that no one was going to bring him a paci he just started babbling in his crib for about 45 minutes. It was hilarious!! He slept through the night just fine however, he has not napped in the past two days. He just lays there and talks to himself and then finally gets bored and starts crying. Hopefully this is just a phase he is going through while is adjusting to not having his paci because I NEED him to nap!! Cross your fingers

Full House

Since our best-friends, The Blawat's, are moving into their new home (which is about 3 minutes away, yea) we wanted to help out and watch the kids so Rob and Alaina could get some work done. On Monday, Alaina brought Lexi over so she could stay the night and the girl's had their usual good time dressing up, playing school, playing "evil queen", hence the crazy pictures that look like they are screaming, and even were brave and watched Beauty and the Beast. Then on Tuesday morning, Alaina brought Hailey over and the real fun began. I thought for sure the house would be trashed and the little kids would want to play with the big kids and the big kids would not want them to and start whining and then the little kids would cry and...you get my drift. Much to my surprise the four of them got along so well and had so much fun playing together. I had the best time watching them all play together, it was really special for me!!

Pumpkin Patch

It is Fall and that means time to visit the pumpkin patch, even if it is still in the 90's. This is the first year we visited Vertuccio's Farm in Gilbert and we were pleasantly surprised. There was a lot for the kids to do and we had so much fun.
